Today, the official opening ceremony of the Asian Parajudo Championship took place at the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov, the Chairman of IBSA Judo (World Parajudo Organization) Janos Tardos and the Deputy Akim of Astana Eset Baiken, who wished success to the Paralympic athletes.

During the official opening of the event, athletes Akmaral Nauatbek and Ergali Shamei were awarded the sports title “Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan” with a special badge.

Also, a special badge with the sports title “Honored Trainer of the Republic of Kazakhstan” was awarded to Dauren Orazov and Ruslan Berkimbay.

It should be noted that about 100 of the best judokas from 11 Asian countries gathered for the exciting competition. In particular, parajudoists from Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will compete over three days in individual and team competitions.

According to the organizers, participants in this Asian Championship include Paralympic and World champions, Paralympic medalists and World Championship medalists.

The Asian Parajudo Championship, which takes place in Astana, will last until April 30.

Admission for spectators is free.
