The ceremony took place at the Zh. Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace, marking the start of the World Championship in combat, sports sambo for adults, and sambo for the visually impaired.
The event was attended by Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan Serik Zharasbayev, Deputy Akim of Astana Yerik Meyrkhanov, President of the International Sambo Federation Vasily Shestakov, and President of the Kazakhstan Federation of Sports and Combat Sambo Aidos Akzhanov, who all wished the athletes success.
This year, 470 athletes from 80 countries gathered for the sambo competitions. A team of 28 athletes will represent Kazakhstan.
In addition to sports and combat sambo, which will continue until November 10, visually impaired athletes (SVI-1) will also compete, with a total of 31 prize sets to be awarded.
